With mobility and accessibility continuing to be key components of internet access, the city of Bangalore has decided to step up to the plate. A recent article in Hindustan Times describes the city’s plans to introduce Wi-Fi facilities to 500 railway stations, enabling travelers with Wi-Fi or WiMAX-enabled devices to conveniently access the internet.

Bangalore’s online-ready train stations only touch the surface of the degree to which mobility and the internet is continuing to merge. As coverage increases, both in terms of the scope and convenience of wireless “hot spots,” the capabilities of WiMAX become even easier to introduce.
